ergonomics may have something to do with it

I have two mirrorless cameras, and I appreciate their compactness very much. But my current go-to camera is a57. It fits and feels more secure in my hand. So, my mirrorless cameras are relegated to those occasions when I don't want to carry a "big" SLT.
