So, just by way of a note to say, Mike Johnston at The Online Photographer has bought himself a D800. If you don't know his blog, it is a wonderful place to hang out (I'm not affiliated in any way) - bit of an antidote to the gear talk on here (and no, that's not a criticism - there's room for all sorts and I visit both sites so honestly, no axe to grind). Anyway, he tried a D800E for a week, liked it, and sorted himself out a D800. He's kind of reviewed the camera with a 35mm 1.4 attached, though the "review", spread over a few posts, is mainly preoccupied with dynamic range, B&W capabilities, moire and camera-shake, if that makes sense. Anyway, don't just read him for that - he's an interesting person who writes beautifully; reading his thoughts on what sounds like a wonderful camera (I've never used one) is just part of the appeal.
