The price of bodies falls a lot more than the price of lenses.  That alone should tell you where the value is.

Sure, a lot of people upgrade to the next new lens version that comes out.  But I think those are mostly gearheads.  Those same people are also upgrading their bodies as well.  And they're buying multiple bodies and models.

There are a lot of people who go out and buy good, older lenses.  I don't agree with you that the old motto has changed much.
