I am not disparaging the RX100-- I thought about this for weeks and went back and forth on it. A bigger sensor is not to be lightly dismissed as an advantage. But if the camera isn't up to some abuse-- and there is ample evidence that the Sony has some problems in that direction-- then I am going with the more rugged of the two cameras. I'll take a bit of a hit on IQ-- a difference that will be inconsequential in most circumstances. (Again, my camera will spend a fair amount of time in my jersey pocket while I am riding my bike here and there).

As always, the final proof will be in the using. I'll check back in if there are any problems.
