Monfrotto KLYP for iPhone

Anyone have a Klyp for their iPhone? Mine has eratic behavior in that the light controll works gradually as it should through low light levels but then jumps to max light level All at once. Does yours behave this way? Is this normal? Shouldn't the lighting be adjustable from off to full power in a gradual change?

PS: I shoot my iPhone professionally believe it or not. This question was not being addressed in the mobile phone forum. The KLYP is an integrated iPhone case and 24 LED light source. Pretty slick if you use a fisheye like I do that covers the iPhone flash. My avatar is an example.
