Astoundingly good GH3 first hard data comparison
Nov 13, 2012

Found at a German site referenced by MikeRonesia in earlier thread today. Here's English trans:

Mein Gott! This is the mother of all comparison data I've ever seen - here for bodies 1000 euro or above. If these data are anywhere near accurate, Panny have hit one to the moon with the GH3. Columns will sort in descending order clicking on top column dropdown arrows. The highlights:

  • DR - at 11.7 EV higher than any body tested except the D800E. D800 10.0; OMD 11.3. At ISO 3200, GH3 ties the 5d-III, 1-dX, and X-Pro1 for tops at 9.3.
  • High ISO measurement - objective and subjective measurements: at 3200, only the two big Cannons surpass the GH3, which ties the X-Pro1. OMD only slightly worse.
  • Color accuracy: At deltaE of 8.3 GH3 beats all - D800 next at 9.0. OMD 9.4
  • Resolution - GH3 w/20-1.7 lens and OMD w/17-2.8: OMD slightly higher from base to ISO 3200, but GH3 excelled in "Attention to detail" (low contrast detail retention).

Grab a hot cuppa' and dive in for an hour or so! No text. "Just the facts, Mam". But how accurate are they - these first numeric reductions??

If they came out of, say, University of CA, Santa Cruz, I'd suspect the current hallucinogen of choice. But Germany with it's legendary precision?
