Aspiring Amateur Sports Photographer

Can anybody give me some insight to the DSLR photography world? I've been reading a bunch lately, but still cannot come to conclusions of what I'm truly looking for in a camera. I tried both a Canon EOS Rebel T3 and a Nikon D3200. I must say, I was mildly impressed with ease of use for the T3, but it did not get done what I needed. My aim... Amateur Sports Photography to try and help pay for my college education! The added shots were some of the better ones taken with the T3. There were many more failures (which I expected as it was my first time using the thing)
