Although CameraLabs marked it down on IQ, the comparison shots on I-R don't bear that out IF you sharpen the G15's images. Basically, the G15 is softer at default, and the P7700 has more internal sharpening at default. So you can use internal sharpening on the G15; but the P7700 won't tolerate as much and begins to show sharpening artifacts very quickly.

The German review site www.chip.de/bestenlisten  brings up a tabular listing of P&S cameras, and they list the G15 second to the G1X and well ahead of the P7700.  THey show lots of data to support their ratings.
