D800 /e SD & CF card issue or just ...

I wonder if this is a D800 /e SD & CF card issue or just ... the nature of the technology and different write rates? For the record, I almost always shoot RAW.
When I had a D800 (since exchanged for D800e due to focus inconsistency and LAF) I was using top of the line Class 10 Sandisk SD card and fast Lexar Professional CF card. Both with CF as main or SD as main SD or CF respectively as backup (or even tried as jpg). BTW. Same issue with D800e.
Issue was what appeared to be excessively long write time in RAW to display image when review button was pressed. In some cases so long it seemed like the review display had frozen with write light on.
Also tried best Lexar Professional SD and Lexar Professional CF. Still same intermittent problem. When D800 was in to Nikon for focus issues twice I also noted this ... and was immediately asked what cards I was using. No follow-up when told, just noted and nothing noted on return. Just that they saw no issues. Always happens with intermittent issues :-(.
Out of curiosity, I have removed SD card and just shot my D800e for a week with CF cards. Guess what? No issue?
Sooo ... is this a common D800 /e finding? Is this a likely firmware fix? Or is it just the mismatch between 2 card types and the coordination of their "write" times even when the second card is not being written?
Not a critical issue ... just interested. Otherwise the D800e is a charm and is by far the best dSLR I have ever had!
