Portrait subjects not looking like themselves. What do you do?

So I am wondering. If you take photos of subjects in which they look much much different and better than in real life because you chose angles and light that hides the not so favorable features and shoes the better features (you know what I am talking about).
Do you give the shots to the subjects where they look like themselves but maybe not so good or do you give the shots where they look really good but not like themselves or all shots and let them work it out?
Situation is: shooting friends/family so not for models for money.
cheers
Matt
