That is highly dependent on which backlight illuminated display you compare whith which OLED Display. All we know is, that Sony uses the OLEDs only as backlight to illuminate the LCD, so it is different from the conventional OLED display. Source
I was thinking in terms of areas where the two technologies overlap (smart phones). Vendors try to mitigate things by designing the GUI with a lot of black background, but on a camera you can't really control that.
Interesting--I didn't know they were doing that. That sounds like it'd be even worse than a conventional OLED.
