Pentax sensor died...whats the longevity of ccds?
Nov 12, 2012

Just took my old istd  to make a few shots. Hardly use it since i have replaced it with newer models, but still like to use it from time to time. Alas, sensor seems to have died....everything works still great, camera had only 3500 shots in total, looks like new but a new shot gives only a few purple and blue lines on the display?

Im a bit surprised , had theq same experience with a few other cameras that i put into a drawer after getting a newer model- a Canon A95, an A 620 and a Pentax Ds! All over the last three years. Frankly i'm very disappointed re the longevity of ccds - even (or maybe precisely) no use seems to break them down pretty quickly. Whats the use that manufacturers claim their slrs can take 100.000 shots if ccds crash this easily ?
