I don't think it's a "bad copy." I can get some sharp shots. It's just that the colors using it on my Panny cameras seem "thin" compared to, say, my 50mm and 12-35mm Panny lenses. And the focus seems to require more precision than my 45mm PLeica did. Maybe it's just the difference between shooting at f1.8 and f2.8 combined with the lack of IS. But even when I shoot at f2.8 and keep the ss faster than 1/125th, the images lack a little something.

Take this example, for instance, taken at 1/125th and f/5. I thought the ss would be fast enough and the f-stop slow enough that both persons would be very sharp. They are not. The image was taken on a G5, and I've had to apply an unsharp mask in PP and then reduce the image size (with additional sharpening applied) to get it this sharp. But even so, they seem a bit soft. Maybe I should shoot at 1/250th. That would certainly remove the motion blur from the dog, but I thought the persons would be sharp at 1/125th.

I wonder if shutter shock is a factor here. There seems to be a doubling of edges similar to what I see on my Panasonic 45-175. See if you get sharper images using the electronic shutter of the G5 at comparable shutter speeds. On my G3, the problem shutter speeds, with some lenses (though not with the 45 1.8) are 1/60-1/200, and this shot is right in the middle.
