I don't have an A99, but no, there's no way the A99 or any other camera would kill flash photography by itself. The use of flashes isn't so much about getting more light (though that helps) than it is about getting light you can control, in color, direction and diffusion. Thus, LED lights might someday kill flash photography (and many argue they're already doing so), but even the cleanest sensors and the brightest lenses won't make unflattering light look decent.
