Yes, DPR said that, but shortly afterward they launched the CONNECT forum. There is a market out there that wants Wi-Fi and GPS. Whether they also want a DSLR with a 35mm sensor is open to question, but clearly DPR also sees a need to provide something for that audience. Also, that group does tend to have deep pockets.  Apple has proven that.

Canon and Nikon have a long history of not always competing head-to-head, instead with each offering something the other lacks. I don’t think this is any different, and I don’t see the 6D as automatically being a failure even before it’s been launched. There may well be a generation coming from iPhones and Rebels that will see the D600 as being the model that was intentionally crippled. Time will tell.
