IMO, the form factor is more important than the small difference in image quality.
The G5 offers a built-in EVF along with the articulated LCD, making for a very flexible camera. The GX1 is quite compact with the option for a removable EVF - possible small enough to fit some pockets with a pancake lens.
So it is more about how you carry and use the camera than anything else.
