i wonder why one should not prefer Nikon over Canon !!

Personally, I think Nikon is definitely ahead in the spec and performance of its DSLR cameras, except the D4 which is a little behind the 1D X. Canon's big advantage is its lens range, where it has a more complete range of prime lenses, with more choice and more standout lenase. They are still adding. For instance they just released a 35/2 IS, a really useful small lens for which there is no Nikon equivalent. Most of Nikon's new releases are still 'catch ups' with respect to Canon. For instance, they just released a 70-200/4, something Canon has had for years.
