A standard zoom for D800?

Why get a D800 and skimp on the lenses? Might it not be wiser to go with the D600 and get a good lens?

The 24-70 is not much heavier than a 24-140, but gives a hell of a lot better IQ. A D800 can not make IQ better that is not there to begin with. But it all depends on your expectations for your work, cq IQ level you require for your clients etc. Only you can decide that.
