I also totally agree with you.

Upgrading of digital gear every 2 to 3 years made sense as long as the new models actually brought advantages in picture quality and handling. This was up to about 5 years ago. Since then the technology is mature and basically very few significant improvements still take place (high ISO quality has slightly improved).

You cannot tell (except by Exif data) if a shown image was taken on an Olympus, Pentax, Nikon or Canon, although the heated arguments on the gear forums would have you believing otherwise.

You purchased an excellent setup for a good price and can hopefully be happy with it for many years.

That is all that matters.
