The current best workaround seems to be to use a minidisplayport to DVI cable, which I use on my early 2009 mini and could use on a new mini with the Thunderbolt port. But I use two monitors with Lightroom and so would need to use the HDMI port also.

Thanks for that. I use Lightroom myself but only one monitor at the moment. In the future I will buy a second monitor. If this can be fixed via software fair enough but if it turns out to be hardware that will be a pain as the machine will need to go back to be fixed which means your without a machine for a while.
