Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten about the 50/1.8 not having a firmware upgrade (maybe ever). The coming 35 f/1.8 looks to be a much better choice for my photographic style/subjects anyway.

Wonder if they will come out with a new black 50 1.8 that has better AF performance to begin with?
