First photos RX100: sensor issue out of box!

You can't see THAT on the view screen until AFTER the photo is taken. Lovely.

After torturing myself over what "companion" camera to buy for my impending RX1, I finally decided on an RX100. Picked it up this afternoon. Immediately charged the battery,inserted card, formatted, and headed out for some sunset photos. I guess I need to return it for another. What is going on with Sony Quality Control?
