I have the 28-135 and only use it when I know I want / need between 55-70 mm . I would rate it as a little upgrade to the 18-55 IS .

I would 2nd the 15-85 unless you shoot a lot in low light where you need 2.8 .

I would also look ahead to next lens . Having 3 different brands create problems down the road .

My lenses are all over the road , from 52 mm to 77 mm [ filter size ] . I know -what am I talking about ?

Your hand will get used to a certain size and the control locations on lenses .

I prefer the 77 mm [ 10-22 , 17-55 , 70-200 and sigma 135-400 ] and 72 mm [ 28-135 and my 35-350 ] While I have the 180 macro [58 mm ] 50 1.8 , 28 , 35 mm lens and a few others , they just don't feel the same / as comfortable . Your hands are probably different , so pick something that feels good .
