One of the above post's mentioned that there was no reason to go to FX if all you want to do is shoot jpegs. What a silly comment, there are a few reasons why people move to FX, and most apply to jpegs (although DR is reduced):

If you mean me, I said there is no point in Old Ed upgrading to FX if he wants reduced size JPEGs. He would be paying a lot of money for small benefit.

Proper FOV with all lenses (24mm is truely wide angle)

This is an idiotic statement. There is no such thing as "Proper FOV" for a given focal length. The world does not revolve around 35mm film format. There is nothing less proper about the various medium and large formats. Nor is there anything improper about DX or smaller formats.

Better high ISO performance

Better DR

Less Noise

Less DOF

In some cases, less DOF is a disadvantage, and the greater "reach" of DX is an advantage.

Aren't you being redundant when you say "Less Noise" and "Better DR" vs. "Better high ISO performance"?

My impression when I made the comment was he wanted reduced JPEGs. Noise should not be much of an issue in that case.

Yes, DR would be an advantage.

He was talking about DX lenses so one assumes that he would need to buy new lenses to make use of most of those advantages. He also said he was concerned with budget. Is the cost of an FX body and lenses justified for better DR? My impression was it wouldn't be for Old Ed.
