A65 JPEG engine sometimes better than RAW
Nov 11, 2012

I usually shoot RAW+JPEG and have noticed that sometimes with RAW processing I'm not able to get a better result than the JPEG which the camera created. In fact, in some cases it's even so that the JPEG output is better than what I'm able to achieve with RAW processing. The camera JPEG will have better detail and colours, and less noise. Quite amazing, the magic Sony is able to do.

Also the camera HDR output very often is outstanding, better than what people are able to achieve by shooting bracketed exposures and combining them with dedicated software.

Surprisingly the A65 JPEG engine excels at shots with difficult lighting conditions (lots of dynamic range).
