LX5 pic advice

I've only had it a few days so I have some questions.  It's first real outing was to an aquarium.  Pics aren't very good.  I realize that that could be one of the tougher spots for a camera, but I tried since my FZ50 has low light issues.  I tried A, P and S modes.  Wasn't comfortable with it enough to try anything different.  Could I have had better results with manual settings or am I expecting too much of this camera in this particular situation?  I did take some other pics outside that I think are really good so I'm thinking it was more the aquarium than me or the camera.  Attaching some pics so you get a better idea of what I'm talking about
