You are telling me that a digital crop is better than a teleconverter? I can do that in Photoshop. I could stand a 1 stop loss on the 75 1.8, 45 or even 12mm, or even a 35-100.

See you mentioned that. Still, the availability of a TC in you kit is better than a digital crop out in the field...

Panasonic's extended optical zoom feature is not a digital crop. The Olympus feature is, but with the E-M5 it is quite a bit improved and really works well, and with no light loss it is better option than a teleconverter for the current lenses.

With 16 megaipixel files from my E-M5, if I needed to crop an image 15-20%, I would not be using any interpolation to rez the file back up, just crop the image and use the native resolution, which would be more than enough. One of the last lenses I would ever consider using a TC with would be the 12mm f2. That's crazy talk when I could simply replace it with the 25mm f1.4, a much, much better option compared to a teleconverter, and I gain an extra stop of light to boot.

Olympus makes both a 1.4x and a 2x teleconverters for the four-thirds system, but that's because they have lenses like the 150mm f2, 300mm f2.8 and the 90-250mm f2.8.

Until we start seeing something like the above lenses, we will not be seeing teleconverters from Olympus or Panasonic.
