Thanks very much for your reply! Your 800k value is somewhat good to hear. Here's the actual values as measured with a grey card rather close to the light source:

  • Beauty Dish: ~5700k
  • Strip Light: ~6100k
  • Softbox 48x36: ~6650k
  • Softbox 36x24: ~7200k (!!!)

My striplight and a 48x36 softboxes are actually from the same manufacturer but still produce different color temperature light. The most dramatic difference, also in shooting practice, is the 36x24 softbox.

Are these differences the same for top notch manufacturers? Or would they try to reduce these differences, or well, even neutralize them? This would most likely happen at the cost of light efficiency, I'd assume, but I would guess these effects are minor compared to the positive side of avoiding mixed CT lighting.
