Budget photo/video build (wow, hard to figure this out)

Thanks, I will check the links.  I've no doubt on the monitor issue but right now using a spider to calibrate it I've got the color piece of my workflow sorted out all they way to my printer.  But yeah, the best back in around 2000 is probably lacking by today's standards.  I just don't want to skimp of the monitor so am looking at that as a later upgrade so I can get a good one,  not something I am settling for.
