What images or stories in the past few years have most effected your politics?

It seems there are so many disagreements on basic or even silly issues that it made me wonder if it is not coming from a media driven division of identity issues. U.S. over against non U.S. stuff.
The images that I find mostly have affected me (and my politics) are the three children photographed by an imbedded reported at a checkpoint at one in the morning whose parents had just been shot dead by U.S. soldiers outside Bagdad. The second image is a camcorder short video clip of the woman kneeling down, hands tied behind her, awaiting her execution by the Taliban for being involved with two guys who happened to big mucky- mucks. Someone walked up to her and stuck a camera in her face and she looked up and it was all there in her face - what a messed up world this is. I tend to be affected by the victims of war rather than the brave soldier participants and nobel politicians like John McCain.
