I know the new generation of users are all used to holding the camera 1ft from their face and only looking at the screen, but liveview is not an option if you want to shoot faster than snail-pace using your manual lenses.

I've been using AIS lenses alongside the AFS trinity on my D700 and now D800, but nothing beats a split screen. For shallow DoF it can be a pain yes, but the onboard focussing aid is also not spot on. Haven't looked for one on my 800 yet, but will likely get one if they are available from Katzeye or BrightScreen etc.
