Suggestions for a trip to Cambodia

It will be my first trip to Cambodia and had a question about lens selection but also about safety.  I will primarily be in Angkor Wat and was wondering how safe it was to be walking around with US$7k worth of gear? I have a D800 and it has been suggested I bring the 14-24 and 24-70 with me.  I have no problem with the weight (actually, I do have a problem but would sacrifice some muscle strain for better image quality), but was curious if this was safe.

If it is smarter to bring slightly less costly gear, what are my best options?  I'm thinking a couple of the less expensive primes...28 1.8 (though I am told this is not wide enough), the 50 1.8G and the 85 1.8G.

Thanks.
