Focus Issue Question

Just got an 800E . Played around all over the back yard using all the focus points. Everything came back exceedingly sharp no matter where the focal point was placed.

Okay here is the neophite question. I persoanlly can't see a real world focus problem when shooting a 50mm 1.4F at 5.6 -8F.

The test to see if one has a focus problem is apparently done from a tripod @1.4 at a target as per examples in threads here. Am I to assume this Left focus issue is only seen at this F stop and less so as one chooses smaller F stop openings? Frankly I would not ever use F1.4 as it is not ever really sharp anywhoo..on most lenses that can reach this opening.
