hoping something isnt wrong with my a57...

So I am having a weird issue with my a57, but only in A mode.

If I have the camera set to A mode, no matter what aperture the camera is set on when it is turned off, when I turn the camera back on, if the pop of flash is disabled, the first picture I take, after I press the shutter button, the camera sits on a black screen and says processing while making a slight grinding noise. It will take about 10-15 seconds to actually actuate the shutter. If i turn the camera off while this is happened, it will cause the shutter to snap also. This only happens in A mode. I am using a sal1650. Any incite on what could be happening? I do not have another lens to test with. Thank you.
