I've just created a panorama using CS6 from three photographs (taken on tripod with plenty of overlap).

There are two virical thing paper tear like crooked lines at the joins. Apart from that it's pretty perfect!

How do I get rid of the paper tears please? is there a way of minutely shifting the joins closer together or something?

Try this:

  • Create a new file with pixel dimensions larger than your final stitched image.
  • Copy each image and paste into the new large image. Each image will then be on their own separate layer. ..... Or you can use IMAGE > CANVAS SIZE > RELATIVE on your first image to get a larger canvas. If you do the latter, copy the background layer so image-1 will be on layer-1 and then paste the rest of the images into successive layers.
  • Select layer-2 then click EDIT > TRANSFORM.
  • In the submenu, select either:
  • ... SCALE: Allows dragging layer-2 only vertically or horizontally to stretch/shrink layer-2.
  • ... DISTORT: Allows dragging layer-2 and distorting the image in any direction.
  • ... PERSPECTIVE: Allows making one end of layer-2 larger/smaller like a trapezoid.
  • ** When using any of these tools, you can press the arrow keys to minutely move layers **
  • If you need to rotate an image, use EDIT > FREE TRANSFORM.
  • Repeat for layer-3, etc.

Not sure if there are easier tools in CS6 because I'm using Photoshop 7.

Thanks for the reply. I will try what you suggest, out of interest, although I seem to have resolved the problem with the first suggestion of getting rid of the layers.

My Photoshop skill are basic at the moment and I'm not sure how I do the first part of your suggestion of creating a new file '...with pixel dimensions larger than your final stitched image'. If I can't work this out I'll be back asking how!

Thanks again.
