A question from a prospective Fuji X owner:

If a RAW file is converted in Silkypix, then exported as a TIFF to LR for processing, are any IQ issues circumvented?

Silkypix is the "official" raw file converter, and it can produce JPEGs, 8-bit TIFFs and 16-bit TIFFs. At this moment there is no "better" or "less lossy" workflow than to produce a 16-bit TIFF and import it in LR, PS, Gimp or any other editing program, and after that point it's up to the editing program to do everything else. The only real "issue" is that Silkypix interface is rather cumbersome, controls have some less than obvious consequences, and it always works over the whole image -- I had to produce two images and combine them in an editor just because different areas required different settings.
