SX50/67mm Ring and Lens Drags

Wondering if this is a problem...Scenario: Camera is sitting on a flat surface (my desk) with lens extended and camera ON.  Power saving is set to 2 minutes at which time the lens retracts and camera turns off.  The larger lens rests on the desk (no space between the 67mm attachments & the desk).   Even tho it's working as it should, could this be a problem for the motorized mechanism?
