I shoot theatre using the manual exposure setting (M) and I usually set the wide open stop on my 24-85 zoom (2.8-4) and then I set the exposure based on the meter in the VF. Each time I set it and whether I keep the shutter button pressed or not, it remains on the shutter speed I have selected, say 250th. But once I take the picture it always goes back to between 1000th-4000th, without fail, meaning I have to quickly reset it before another immediate shot, which I often miss. I used the same settings and lens on my D-700 and never had this problem.
Am I missing something?
Thanks, Mike

The only time I have seen that happen is when exposure bracketing is turned on. After shooting one shot it is going to -1, -2, +1, +2 (or something like that).
That is my best guess.
