OK, so the A/F is slow, that I know. How slow?

  • Is it usable? People say it's slower than Canon's own G12. How much slower?
  • If I shoot a person standing in front of me, waiting for me to take a picture, will he loose his patience and go away?
  • If it takes whatever number of seconds for it to focus, is this at least consistent?
  • Will it focus at all in low light (a moderately lit restaurant for instance)?
  • Can you prefocus with? Can you switch to manual focusing and set the distance manually?

Thanks.

Well, my frame of reference is the Panasonic GX1, and when i tried out the EOS-M with the 18-55 in a shop today it was noticeably slower than the GX1. For me the lag was too much (at the current price) to consider buying, even with possibility of using all my current EF lenses with the adapter. I'd rather buy a m43 camera as my second system. Build quality felt great though.
