Canon 5D Mark 2 acclimation?

Hello guys,

Am hoping I can get insight on Canon 5D Mark 2 or in general DSLR users.

I am coming from smaller format cameras w/o many features and most notably I shoot w/a  very basic Leica M8.

The Mark 2 is great in the sense that I can understand it's basic shooting I feel there's a LOT of features that I will never get into if I don't start looking into learning.

I checked out the manual but it's been daunting... can you share your experiences on how you got acclimated to your Canon when you first began using it?

Any recommendations for a beginner is appreciated.
