I doubt it, the leather loops keep the metal clips away from the camera body, they're just about the right length to do this.

True, I don't mind a little wear and tear but I'm confident the design will avoid this. I searched high and low for a camera strap like this, that could be easily unclipped, and co-incidentally the best option I found was this one. The fact that this strap is an old but very well made Olympus design was just the icing on the cake
