Nikor 50mm 1.4G or older D version?

I want to add a 50mm to my collection for shooting weddings. Normally use my 85 1.4 but in some cases I see a 50mm would be a good choice.

I hear that the newer G version is slow focus? is that true, but it is a sharp lens?

Is the older version a better buy and faster focus?

I need fast focus so what are your thoughts?
