Suzi: I am on my second RX100.

there is a fair amount of zoom noise.

AF is snappy but certainly not instant, the best setting for fastest possible af and to minimize shutter lag I have turned off instant review, keep it mostly in wide angle (28mm equiv) and AF-S. As one zooms in, af speed deteriorates. Still pretty good performance overall. I found the camera behaves oddly in AF-C for photos, works great in video mode.

Steady shot is fantastic in video, not as effective for photos, and lastly, the small form factor and light weight of the RX100 requires a very steady hand.
