All i have Jim is Essentials.. you seem to be a professor of computers so a lot of what you are saying would probably work but i`m afraid i`m not that good with pc`s .i may have to take it to an expert like you and see what can be done.. My computer works as normal besides not being able to install vnx or avg and probably more if i downloaded free stuff..so many thanks to you and everyone who took the time to help me..Bob...ps... my restore points only go back a few days but there is one where it restores to when i first bought the pc back in January..i wonder if that would help !!  thank you all...
