It happened to me when I passed from 6 M to 12 M to slightly change my technique in order to get consistent results.

This puzzles me. I went from a D70 to a D90 and didn't have to change a thing. I immediately saw improvements. In fact the screen on the D70 was useless for judging sharpness so the screen on the D90 made me feel like a kid at Christmas - I could tell with some confidence if a picture was sharp just by zooming in.

You may have already had great technique that naturally followed over to the D90. I, on the other hand, had to up my game a good bit going from the D70 to the D7K. Didn't take long, but was obvious very early where I need to improve.

I moved form d3100 (14mp) to D7000 (16mp) and I had to adjust my technigue to get sharp shoots.! at first thought I was disappointed form D7000 then after several test I did release the difference between my old d3100 and new d7000!
