D300 stuck at close focus

It sounds like you may have fixed but I encountered a similar issue with my D300s that was because of a hair on the AF module behind the mirror on the bottom.  A good blow with a giotto rocket blower fixed it.  My camera kept getting stuck at infinity with low contrast subject.  Made birds in flight impossible.
