The incompatibility with the 5N is a little strange if you consider that the Sigma lenses support

incamera correction with Nex cameras inspite of the fact that they definitely are not part of the camera firmware. This means that the lens firmware supplies the camera with the necessary parameters for the camera firmware routine to perform incamera lens correction.

For me this is an indication that the special design of the power zoom or worse, the severity of the required correction profile for the 16-50 exceeds the capability of the routine implemented in the 5N.

I don't want to bash the 16-50, though I myself am a little disappointed since I hoped for a kit zoom with acceptable 16 mm quality.
