I haven't tried the 16-35 but if I were in your situation I would go for the 14-24. To much overlap when you already have the 24-70.

Thank you for the image that inspired Hans Christian Andersen!  I enjoyed your other images, as well.  But they appear to be not in focus and overly sharpened.  Almost as though they were taken with a P&S camera, and not of a quality in keeping with a 36MP FX sensor and the 14-24G.
