In your picture on the left 2 main lines form an V pointing to the middle, on the opposite side you have the bannister on the stairway forming a line that points toward the V on the left. These lines are leading your eye into the photo.


Another interesting observation! I keep sing the banister completing a diagonal across the image. But you're right, that "central" area does draw my attention to it as that's where I find my exploration of the photo often begins. Interesting!
