p7700 lag between raw shots

i sent the first defective camera back and got another. but i am still very disappointed - there's a 4-6 sec. lag between single shots (raw only) and if i shoot in continuous (M) mode, it lags 25 seconds until it can capture the next shot. i am using a Transcend class10 16 GB card, no other speed information on the package

i am envious of those with only 1 sec. lag between single shots and i wonder if they are also shooting raw.
